just 10 mins of scribbles

I sketched this pg on my last 10 mins of my break while in the lunch room at work. I don't know why but they were very fun to draw and seemed to just flow out of my mind. I will most likely be posting a bunch of pages similar to this in addition to the character designs i have been working on.

More inktober

My friend over at swauger.tumblr.com has been doing inktober as well. Every time he misses a day he makes sure to make it up with penalty sketches. I've been in the penalty box for quite some time so here are some things that I did while in there. The last piece is something I did because of my feline studio mate Goofus Clustershitz Magoo. My lady and I don't have the biggest apartment in the world so his litter box ended up right next to my desk in our office. During the storm my lady and I were drawing and she was at my desk while I sketched on my cintiq and Goofus did his business. She was not too happy, thats all I gotta say about that. So at that moment my random sketch began to have a purpose and took shape.

Here are a few things i inked traditionally for inktober. Basically you just ink stuff for the month of October which I think is a great idea. hopefully I get better at it by the end of the month. These first few were to get me warmed up but I cant honestly say that they pushed me at all so I need to attack some more interesting and complex things in the future images. I have been really trying to get myself boosted to work on things and I wont let my crazy work schedule become an excuse anymore. I am just going to have to make the time. It will all be worth it in the end.

I've been pretty bad about posting here lately. I was on a roll for a while drawing and pulling in some steady caricature gigs and freelance stuff. However I was a little too cautious and took a full time job just to have some stability. I work the third shift from 7pm til about 7:30 am in a freezer that is -20. Why did I do this to myself?...No damn idea. Had no clue that it would drain me in so many ways. I am currently on the hunt for another job tho so it is all good. Here is a picture of one of my coworkers. He is the only guy that walks around in the freezer with no head gear on and his beard turns to ice with in moments. I swear he is part viking, but most of all he is a really cool guy. He actually makes that job tolerable. This picture is pretty old now but I realized that I never put it on here... so here it goes. The next image is a commission of his lady friend's wow character.

Just some things I did today while playing around on photoshop. Finally got my self a new pc and a cintiq so thing have just been moving along alot faster. I have tons of things in the works and I cant wait to finish them. The next thing i'll post is a commission that I need to finish for a coworker.

This is a commission from a while back that I did of Zooz from the game Zool 2. It's an old school game that they came out with back in the day to compete with  Sonic... Sonic won but it did seem like a fun game. The client was happy and I had fun doing it so mission accomplished. Next are two images I had to do the same day for a quick Urban Outfitters job. My girlfriend asked me to do it and I really had no choice in the matter. I had to work very fast and at the same time have her sitting over my shoulder like an art director. It was all good though. As soon as it became a job I took off my boyfriend hat and replaced it with the serious illustrator one. By the end of it she was happy and really looking forward to getting photoshop so she can start working on it. So now I need to get her a tablet.

Just an update

Last month was a pretty busy one for me and a great learning experience. I drew caricatures at a super pet expo in New Jersey, assisted with a few backgrounds on an upcoming book that a friend is working on and I had a few illustration jobs come in. The pet expo was great because it really made me work hard to get into a groove where I could just relax. After drawing dogs non stop and of every shape, size and breed I can imagine I can honestly say that I am better at drawing them now than I was before. The owl image is a job I just recently completed and the other two images are sketches that I did the other day that I am about to begin inking.

my little red book

All of these sketches were done in a little red moleskin sketch book that I stole from my girl friend. All of drawings in this book are strictly ink sketches. I like working like this because it keeps me moving and forces me to just work with what ever happens. These were all done at work by the way.
